2015 Le nozze di Figaro
Part of Ópera de Tenerife, the project targets young professionals who as yet do not have enough stage experience. Firstly, singers at local, national and international level are selected to then start a month-long training in musical and dramatic aspects in order to put on an opera title within Auditorio de Tenerife’s opera season. Opera (e)Studio was set up to fill in the void young artists find themselves in when they finish their higher education and must make their debut on the stage.
Giulio Zappa as artistic and musical director of the project, Silvia Paoli as stage manager and a large team of professionals train the singers in all the aspects necessary to achieve a good opera performance according to current European standards: musical and stage performance technique, style, direction, body language, theatrical nature of the role, historical context of the composition, dramaturgy, libretto studying, etc. which ends by staging the production of Le nozze di Figaro by Mozart, with Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and which is part of the Opera de Tenerife season, thus securing direct contact with theatre reality.

Production: Le nozze di Figaro
By choosing Le nozze di Figaro as the theme for his opera, apart from supporting the enlightened ideas of equality King Joseph II favoured, Mozart was determined to create an opera that would be more Italian than Italian operas themselves. That is why the overture of Le nozze di Figaro is an instrumental composition in the lightest and most Mediterranean style we could ever imagine. Undoubtedly, the subtitle of the original work, “The Mad Day”, gave Mozart the key to indicate presto in the string score that opens the work and outlines a winding path around the bright D major which is the main tonality of the opera. With the same elegance and clearness he builds his music with, Mozart takes us across a sea of tonalities fluently, startling us now and then with the sequenced introduction of different instrumental sections in sforzandi, which are absolutely essential to fit in the small and accurate theme elements that make up this symphonic miniature.
In short, it is the symphonic power of the music and its high degree of timbre and motif elaboration that bring characters to life and add depth to the situations in Le nozze di Figaro, a comedy about a universal theme that represents the virtues of the best musical drama. In four acts, Le nozze di Figaro takes place at the palace of Count Almaviva in Aguas Frescas, near Seville, in Spain. The plot revolves around the attraction the Count feels for Susana.
