2014 La Cenerentola
Part of Ópera de Tenerife, the project targets young professionals who as yet do not have enough stage experience. Firstly, singers at local, national and international level are selected to then start a month-long training in musical and dramatic aspects in order to put on an opera title within Auditorio de Tenerife’s opera season. Opera (e)Studio was set up to fill in the void young artists find themselves in when they finish their higher education and must make their debut on the stage.
Giulio Zappa as artistic and musical director of the project, Silvia Paoli as stage manager and a large team of professionals train the singers in all the aspects necessary to achieve a good opera performance according to current European standards: musical and stage performance technique, style, direction, body language, theatrical nature of the role, historical context of the composition, dramaturgy, libretto studying, etc. which ends by staging the production of La Cenerentola by Rossini, with Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and which is part of the Opera de Tenerife season, thus securing direct contact with theatre reality.

Production: La Cenerentola
Written just three weeks after the success of Il barbiere di Siviglia, Rossini was inspired by Perrault’s tale to compose one of his best operas. He turned the plot into a comedy, removed all the supernatural elements and was left with a story of love affairs that works like a precision machine, where dramatic and frivolous elements are balanced out as well as inner and physical beauty and the values that drive us. Its modern plot led stage manager Silvia Paoli to set the action in a TV set while a reality show is being shot, a very common situation of our media-exposed age. This way she puts together the group of characters that are so perfectly portrayed in the libretto.
