2018 L'italiana in Algeri

In 2018 Opera (e)Studio starts the season of the Opera de Tenerife, and comes to its sixth edition fully consolidated. Each time there are more singers who show their interest in joining this initiative. The youth, who are elected in auditions international, remain almost two months on the Island, where they undergo an intense work of musical aspects and scenic, to put in place a title of the opera within the opera season of the Auditorio de Tenerife.

Opera (e)Studio is a benchmark for youth who complete their higher education and want to start a professional career. This project of Ópera de Tenerife has been recognized by the European Union, which has been granted for the next edition of the largest grant possible for a program of these characteristics. Giulio Zappa as artistic and musical director of the project, Giorgia War in the stage direction and a vast team of professional, including the musical director Nikolas Nägele and the soprano Italian Mariella Devia have prepared the thirteen chosen in all those aspects necessary to meet a good representation operatic according to mark the current canon european: a technique of musical interpretation and scenic, style, direction, body expression, nature theater of the role, the historical context of the composition, the drama, the study of the libretto, etc, which ends with the staging of the production of The Italian in Algiers, Rossini, with the Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife and the Opera Chorus of Tenerife.

Production: La italiana en Argel

The heir of the tradition buffa in neapolitan, The Italian in Algiers is an opera in two acts with music by Gioachino Rossini libretto by Angelo Anelli, which, since its premiere in 1813, received immediate recognition from the critics and the public. The melody is characteristic of the style of Rossini, in which fuses a vibrant sustained energy along with original melodies that allow singers to address arias with a spectacular virtuosity.

Creating comic, he signed with just twenty-one years, tells how to Isabella, an Italian entrepreneur who exploits his charm and intelligence, frees her boyfriend Lindoro made a slave by the king of Algiers. The book addresses topics such as contemporary and universal as multiculturalism and the struggle between the sexes, in chaotic weather plagued with beautiful and complex moods of music.

The Italian in Algiers will debut at Opera de Tenerife Nikolas Nägele, current Kapellmeister of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
