The artists were selected from among the 181 candidates presented to the auditions for the seventh edition of Opera (e)Studio

Ópera de Tenerife, after the completion of the hearings that have taken place in Bologna, Tbilisi, Madrid and Tenerife, makes public the names of the artists that will make up the cast of the two casts of the opera, which opens the opera season 2019-2020 with L’elisir d’amore, by Gaetano Donizetti. This title is part of the project Opera (e)Studio , in collaboration with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre, which this year is funded by the programme’Creative Europe’ of the European Commission.

The cast will be composed by Maria Rita Combattelli/Beatriz de Sousa (Adina); Klodjan Kaçani/César Arrieta (Nemorino); Alberto Bonifazio/James Ochoa (Belcore), Givi Gigineishvili/Matteo Andrea Mollica (Dulcamara) and Sofia Esparza/Eleonora Boaretto (Giannetta).

In this edition of Opera(e)Studio, there have been a total of 181 artists from 33 nationalities in America, Europe and Asia. On this occasion, we’ll have ten artists from seven nationalities, such as: Albanian, colombian, Spanish, Georgian, Italian, Portuguese and venezuelan.All the auditions were supervised by the artistic director of the program, Giulio Zappa.

The singers selected will be on the island at the beginning of September in order to receive a professional training and comprehensive of all the disciplines that encompasses the genre of opera. In this period, the artists will work various techniques of musical interpretation and scenic, style, diction, body language, nature theater of the role, the historical context of the composition, the drama or the study of the libretto, among other aspects. The work will culminate with the classic representation of Donizetti, L’elisir d’amore the days 24, 25, 26 and 27 October, 2019 at Opera de Tenerife, in the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre on 25, 27 and 29 February and 1 march 2020, and at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna on days 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 April 2020.

Opera (e)Studio is a program that created Ópera de Tenerife in the year 2013 with the intention of promoting young talent through the refinement and artistic integral. It has a permanent seat in the Auditorium of Tenerife and in the six previous editions have been put on stage Cosi fan tutte [2013], La Cenerentola [2014], Le nozze di Figaro [2015], Don Pasquale [2016], I Capuleti e i Montecchi [2017] , and L l’italiana in Algeri. [2018].

L’elisir d’amore is opera buffa most popular of Donizetti, with the aria for tenor most famous ‘A furtive tear’ and an argument effervescent in which the trials, tribulations, love of the beautiful Adina and naive Nemorino will be put in game with the subterfuge of the quack Dulcamara, and the jealousy of the sergeant Belcore.

The director, Pablo Maritano, will be in charge of the scenery of this production that moves to the golden age of cinema. A fantasy world through a different set of shoot for the Hollywood of the time.

On this occasion, the musical direction of this opera will be under the baton of Antonio Méndez, principal conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife.
