The co-production of Opera de Tenerife L’elisir d’amoreby Donizetti, arrives next week at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, in Italy. It is a transnational project that counts with a prestigious grant from the Creative Europe programme of the European Commission. Auditorium of Tenerife, which depends on the Area of Culture, Education, Youth, Museums and Sports of the Cabildo insular de Tenerife, which directs the counselor Concepción Rivero, theatre is the leader of this project, which has as partners with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre of Georgia.
The functions in the Italian theater, scheduled for June but had to be postponed by the crisis of the coronavirus, will be held on 29 and 30 September and 1, 3, 6 and 7 October, constituting the first opera performances of the institution after the break by the pandemic,. L’elisir d’amore is released in the Symphony Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife, under the stage direction of Pablo Maritano, from 24 to 27 October 2019, and passed by the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre on 26, 27 and 29 February and 1 march 2020.
The members of the cast come from the auditions for the seventh edition of the academy of high specialization Opera (e)Studio, held in February 2019 in Bologna, Tbilisi, Madrid and Tenerife, to the which fielded 181 candidates from 33 nationalities. The singers who participated in the original edition were Mary Rita Combattelli (soprano); Beatriz de Sousa (soprano); Klodjan Kaçani (tenor); César Arrieta (tenor); Alberto Bonifazio (baritone saxophone); James Ochoa (baritone); Givi Gigineishvili (bass); Matteo Andrea Mollica (bass); Sofía Esparza (soprano) and Leonora Tess (soprano). The cast Italian is added to the singers David Astorga, Alberto Bonifazio and Givi Gigineishvili.
The entire project, which includes the co-production, the tour, auditions, training and several parallel activities is what we have been awarded the European Commission’s Creative Europe from hundreds of projects, a program whose purpose is to support the sectors of cultural and audiovisual of the continent.
Opera (e)Studio, the academy is highly specialized for artists of Ópera de Tenerife, which has since 2012 with Giulio Zappa as the artistic director. This project was born with the aim of training in all disciplines of the genre opera a quarry of artists who complies with the requirements of the current labour market.
L’elisir d’amore is a melodramma giocoso by Gaetano Donizetti libretto by Felice Romani, based on the text You philtre of Eugène Scribe for the opera of Daniel François Esprit Auber. One of the operas defiler’s most critically acclaimed composer, thanks to unforgettable melodies as ‘A furtive tear’ and an argument effervescent where he recounts the loves of the beautiful Adina and naive Nemorino. The play was premiered at the Teatro della Canobbiana in Milan on 12 may 1832.
